Millicent Otieno is the CEO of Local Capacities for Peace International. She has years of experience in the coordination of an extensive network of trainers, practitioners and interested humanitarian, peace and development organizations working in the East African region and beyond. Millie is a Trainer of Trainers on the Alternative to Violence Project (AVP) and Master Trainer on Reflecting on Peace Practice as well as the Do No Harm/ Conflict Sensitive Approaches and practices. She has practiced in Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Somalia, Somaliland, Puntland, Burundi, Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria.

The services she provides include facilitation of workshops, training of implementers and field practice, training of trainers, coaching, mentoring and accompaniment of over 180 peacebuiding and 70 media. She provides training for security practitioners/trainers and partner organizations on conflict sensitivity, peace and community security work, planning workshops, project assessments and evaluations, case studies, documentation, and networking and exchange of experiences. She also provides translation and adaptation of relevant training material on participatory development approaches, conflict sensitivity, peace journalism, conflict transformation, community dialogue and mediation processes.
