Ramatu Aliyu Abarshi holds a PhD, an M.Phil and Masters degrees in Entrepreneurship and Electrical Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Kenya and Bayero University Kano respectively. She was earlier trained at Plateau State and Kaduna Polytechnic for ND and HND respectively in the same bias, she also obtained a Post-HND [Electronics and Telecommunication] and Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the Kaduna Polytechnic.
She worked previously as a Junior Technical Assistant Officer, Technical Officer and Engineer Maintenance and services with many firms including NTA Jos, PRTVC Jos, Mamuda Garba [MG] Communications Kaduna. She also received training on equipment maintenance, teaching/training strategy, training of Master trainer on Entrepreneurship, practical training on Entrepreneurship at Songhai Center Benin Republic, Leadership Training in East London South Africa and New Global Standards for Conducting Research African Research Council on Sustainable Development. She is a widely travelled academic with several journals and conference publications to her credit. She has been teaching, and executing projects, training others on Engineering and Entrepreneurship Development.
She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers [FNSE], a COREN Certified, Member of the Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers [NIEEE], member Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) and Society of Women Engineers of America (SWE). She was the Vice Chairman Professional Development of NIEEE Kaduna and an elected Chairman of the institute. She is a Resource Person to National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), a Resource Person to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria.
She is a Chief Lecturer and a former Head of Department at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic (2010-2014) and was also the Examination Officer at the Center for Technology Entrepreneurship Education and Development [CTEED] Kaduna Polytechnic 2 (2008-2010) and a college of Engineering representative to the Kaduna Polytechnic Academic board (2004-2006). She also serves as an External Examiner to the Post Graduate Programme, Higher National and National Diploma programmes at the Air force Institute of Technology(AFIT), Kaduna , Federal Polytechnic Bida Niger state and Taraba state Polytechnic.
She was a Co-Faculty Advisor to Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Kaduna Polytechnic Team between 2005-2008 (now known as ENACTUS), and a member of the research working Group of the African Research Council on Sustainable Development.
She has executed many Engineering and Entrepreneurship projects on behalf of Kaduna Polytechnic, among them are Women Empowerment Program in Katare, Mararabanrido, Kachia, VVF Patients in kano, Train the Trainer programmes, Skill acquisition programmes for youth, she’s currently the chairperson of BARKINDO RAHAMA INITIATIVE (BRAIN), an NGO that is executing skill acquisition programs for women, youths, and the physically challenged in the society. Programs on peace building among communities, and promotion of girl child education etc.
