Safaa El-Agib Adam is secretary general of the Community Development Association since 2000 and Task Force Member for the engagement of Sudanese women in peace process. She worked & cooperated with several International organizations in Sudan (SCF/UK, OXFAM/UK, German Development Services DED, Friedrich Ebert Foundation FES as an expert in development and humanitarian work. She has advised numerous organizations on the planning and execution of post-conflict community organizations, livelihood programmes and relief coordination. She has a background in gender issues in conflict, gender-sensitive and mainstreaming, international standards of human rights, conflict transformation.

She joined the Sudanese Women Movement involved in different Sudanese women`s forums on women`s rights & justice prior, during the preparation & participation in the 4th UN International World Conference 1995 in Beijing. She is a member of the Sudanese Women’s Empowerment for Peace and Development Network part of SWEP; a founding member of Community Development Association; of the Sudanese Women’s Solidarity Group, the Civil Society Initiative for Peace Forum, An executive member of the Darfur Forum for Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence ,she is also an advisory board member of the Darfur Relief & Documentation Centre (Geneva), Ms. Adam advised the group of women civil society leaders that participated in the seventh round of the Darfur Peace Negotiation in Abuja in December 2005.

She is also a board member for the Darfur Relief and Documentation Centre, based in Geneva. Ms. Adam was among the group of 1000 women peace builders nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 (currently known as Peace Women across the Globe) In 7th. Nov.2009 she had been awarded the Freedom & Human Rights Award by the Swiss Foundation for Freedom & Human Rights. She participated in the Heidelberg Darfur Dialogue for the proposed Draft Darfur Peace Agreement – organized by Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law & International law – Heidelberg-Germany. Currently she is an executive member of the Darfur civil society mechanism for the Peace Talk in Eldoha (Quarter).
